Purpose of IDSCAN
IDSCAN provides crews with a protocol to implement when considering:
• Atypical Plays
• Hard Fouls
• Intentional Fouls
• Disqualifying Fouls
• Fighting
Who Benefits from IDSCAN?
Every official at all levels who do not have access to replay review.
How IDSCAN helps crews?
It gives crews an opportunity to huddle, share/discuss information, then make the best decision for the game.
It prepares officials moving into collegiate officiating for replay review as it aligns with existing protocol.
“IDSCAN has dramatically reduced the amount of errors […] on layered plays”
- Wendy Daily | SACO Supervisor of Officials

Shelley Nakasone
I created IDSCAN after watching too many games where crews had no protocol for atypical situations and no replay review to help them make the best decision for the game. My vision was that IDSCAN would be the tool crews utilized to problem solve those atypical situations more efficiently.
My officiating career continues to be challenging and rewarding. I have been fortunate to work all D1 conferences out west, post season conference tournaments, the NCAA tournaments, NIT tournaments and my personal goal-the WNBA. I hope others are inspired to achieve their officiating goals, whatever that may be.
